Rockton, IL: (Feb-22-07) Woodward, the world's largest independent designer and manufacturer of energy control solutions for aircraft and industrial engines, turbines and power, was sued for paying its minority employees at a lower rate than their white counterparts. The class action lawsuit filed by a group of employees was triggered after a probe by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission affirmed the allegations. The commission also found minority employees were promoted less and were less often chosen for training programs. A federal judge approved the class action settlement in which Woodward will pay its minority and female employees in Rockton and Loves Park a sum of $5 million.
