Executives at Natural gas and pipeline company Williams Cos. Inc. and its subsidiary Williams Communications were alleged to have conspired to inflate the companies' stock prices. Williams has agreed to settle, subject to court approval, and pay $290 million to people who bought the stock between July 2000 and July 2002. Anywhere from $145 to $220 million will be paid in cash and the rest funded by insurers. (Jun-13-06)
