Philadelphia, PA: A $525,000 settlement has been approved by a Superior Court judge ending the class action lawsuit brought against Weichert Realtors.
The unfair business practices lawsuit was brought by Burlington County residents who alleged that Weichert charged administration fees, ranging from $160 to $250, which were essentially "junk fees"and not associated with any defined service beyond what the company already provided for commission. The suit alleged that such fees violated the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and the New Jersey Truth in Contract, Warranty and Notice Act.
The class action may end up representing some 8,000 plaintiffs, who would share the settlement monies between them.
