Santa Clara, CA: A $13.5 million settlement has been reached in an unpaid wages and overtime
class action lawsuit pending against pharmacy and convenience store chain Duane Reade Inc, the parent company of Walgreens. The lawsuit was filed by assistant store managers.
Under the terms of the agreement, filed in New York federal court, two classes of plaintiffs, which combine to add up to about 1,075 employees, would be compensated from the $13.5 million fund. Specifically, the classes would comprise store managers employed between January 8, 2009, and November 3, 2016, who filed forms explicitly joining the action, and those who had not excluded themselves from the class.
The case is Mani Jacob et al. v. Duane Reade Inc. et al., case number 1:11-cv-00160, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
