A judge in Colleton County, SC, has approved a settlement of $49 million in a wages-and-hour violation class action brought against Wal-Mart by some of its employees. The settlement is statewide and ends more than 6 years of litigation involving Wal-Mart's labor practices.
According to media reports, as of March 31, 2008 Wal-Mart was facing some 76 similar class actions across the US. And, in December it was reported that company official believe it will cost the retail giant up to $640 million to settle 63 remaining suits.
