A settlement has been approved in the class action lawsuit filed against Verizon Wireless on behalf of 2 million Michigan customers. The suit claimed that the customers were improperly charged an 8.2-cent fee per call to a land-line telephone from a cellular phone, and that they were not properly notified of the fee. Under the terms of settlement, members of the class which includes many Cellular One, AirTouch and Verizon customers in Michigan who had accounts since March 1993, will receive between 30 million and 60 million minutes free cellular phone time, the lowest amount per customer being 60 minutes.
