Van Buren School District

Fort Smith, AR: (Feb-26-07) A class action hour and wage lawsuit involving more than 300 Van Buren teachers was filed against the Van Buren School district and was settled on February 13, 2007. Though the split verdict left both sides claiming victory, the school board still paid out a more than $400,000 settlement to the teachers involved. Former Van Buren junior high schoolteacher Steven Jones prevailed on three questions in his breach of contract suit against the Van Buren School District and lost on another three.
