Washington, DC: A barber school in Anne Arundel County has been found guilty of deceptive business practices and breach of contract by a jury hearing the unfair business practices case brought by three former students.
The school's owner was also found liable for intentional infliction of emotional distress, which led the jury to award a $150,000 settlement. The three students had sought the return of their individual tuition fees, which was more than $17,000, as well as compensatory damages for misrepresentations and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The award was later reduced by $9,000.
