Eight companies have agreed to pay a $31.5 million settlement for overcharging customers for title insurance. New York state residents filed a class action lawsuit against the insurance groups for not offering discounts on title insurance if they lived on the same property as the initial mortgage. Residents have until Oct. 27th to file claims and could be awarded up to $600. (Apr-24-05)
