A class action was filed against the cable company for allegedly selling the names of subscribers to direct marketers. From January 1, 1994 through December 31, 1998 Time Warner violated the Cable Act of 1984. According to the proposed settlement "subscribers whose information may have been sold can receive one free month of any Time Warner Cable service they don't already have or two free movies on demand. Those who are no longer Time Warner subscribers can be reconnected for free and will receive one complimentary month of any Time Warner Cable service, with the exception of movies on demand." Claims must be posted by May 4, 2006. (Feb-06-06)

I was billed more even though they promised rate would not go up. They cut off phone service to be able to talk to anyone. I wrote letters to no avail. When I went into the office they said that I was on an Adelphia rate that was over. I called to make sure my rates would not go up I was told the Time Warner rate was less so if the Adelphia one expired why wasn't I put on the Time Warner rate! Now they have hurt my credit score!
