San Francisco, CA: A settlement has been reached in the consumer fraud class action lawsuit pending against Symantec Corporation, over allegations the computer antivirus software company improperly charged customers for the automatic renewal of a prior Norton software subscription after they purchased another Norton product.
Eligible class members include all persons in the United States (including individuals, companies, government entities and all other entities) who, between October 1, 2005 and May 23, 2012 upgraded or renewed their Norton antivirus software. All versions of the following Symantec software products are included in the class action lawsuit settlement:
Norton AntiVirus
Norton Internet Security
Norton 360
Norton Personal Firewall
Norton SystemWorks
The consumer fraud lawsuit, entitled Marolda v. Symantec Corp., was filed against Norton in 2008, and alleges Symantec' automatic renewal program for Norton antivirus subscriptions was improper because it did not disclose to customers that they needed to cancel the automatic renewal if an upgrade product was purchased.
Symantec denies any wrongdoing, but has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation.
The terms of the settlement provide for a $10 cash refund or a two-month Norton subscription extension.

I received a check in January 2018 from the class action suit , but it was lost and not cashed. Tried to cash today, but check has "you must cash within 90 days". Is there anything I can do about getting a replacement?

When I purchased their products it automatically put the insurance on it for 5.99 and I didn't have a choice to opt out, so it basically forced consumers and it wasn't honored anyway. They will never get a dime from me again. Dishonest and misleading company.

I don't need an attorney to call me. Basically Symantec charged me for something that didn't work and caused my laptop to crash. I could never get it fixed and had to purchase a new one... I don't remember the exact date but it was in 2009. I could never get a refund (when I called I was treated like a fool) and the next renewal I was charged again and had to call the bank and Symantec again and got a refund after almost an hour on the phone and being placed on hold and again treated badly.

not only did I get virus, but never could get it properly installed on my laptop because I renewed online with no product key. Both of my computers are severly infected.
