In the settlement of a gender discrimination investigation against Swift & Co., 2,481 women share a $700,000 settlement and 141 women are hired at the Greeley, Colorado meat-processing plant. In the class action investigation, plaintiffs complained that they were unlawfully screened out and denied general labor employment due to gender. After a thorough investigation and pressure from the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Swift & Co. agreed to hire 141 previously rejected female applicants which equal approx. $3.6 million in compensation.
