Quebec - A class action lawsuit was filed in Quebec Superior Court regarding Sony music CDs that installed software on computers without authorization. The lawsuit claimed music CDs sold by Sony BMG included anti-copying software that was secretly installed on computers when inserted into CD drives. The software made it possible for a computer to be hijacked by an attacker or susceptible to a computer virus. Sony BMG sold millions of copy protected CDs worldwide that used a computer program called a rootkit to hide the fact that it is running, making it more difficult to disable. The Quebec Superior Court has approved a class action lawsuit settlement. (Oct-11-06)
