A class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of current and former employees in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The class was filed on behalf of more than 600 employees who worked for Service Corp. from July 23, 1997 to October 1, 2004. The lawsuit claimed the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Laws in regard to premium payments, overtime and other wage and hour claims for funeral directors and other non-exempt employees. Service Corp. International has agreed to pay a $4.45 million class action settlement. (Feb-21-06)
