A class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of tens of thousands of uninsured patients from Oregon. The low income plaintiffs claimed several hospitals charged them higher rates for the same services that insured patients received. If the class action settlement is approved, it will cover medical charges to uninsured patients at seven Providence hospitals in Oregon over a six year period. (Nov-01-05)
