A class action lawsuit was filed against the testing organization regarding errors in the scoring of a widely used teacher licensing examination. The Praxis exam series are used in 39 states in the US to determine a person's eligibility to be licensed as a teacher. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of 27,000 people who took the exam from January 2003 to April 2004 who received lower scores than they should have and 4,100 who were wrongly told they had failed. A judge for the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana has given preliminary approval to an $11.1 million class action settlement. (Mar-15-06)
