A group of individuals tried to file a class action lawsuit against archdiocesan officials for allegedly violating civil racketeering statutes and conspiracy laws when they allegedly covered up sexual abuse of minors by priests. The class action claimed the Archdiocese of Philadelphia ignored abuses, encouraged priests suspected of abusing children to continue working in parishes, transferred priests accused of abuse to hide them, and told people who complained about priests not to go to civil authorities. US District Judge Legrome Davis threw out the sexual abuse related class action lawsuit. (Nov-21-06)
