A group of private landowners filed a class action lawsuit against the paper and forest company and some of its fiber suppliers for allegedly conspiring to artificially depress fiber prices. The antitrust class action claimed International Paper engaged in an unlawful scheme to synthetically lower the prices at which the company procures fibers for its mills. International Paper has agreed to a $12.4 million class action settlement. (Aug-08-06)
