Several lawsuits and a class action lawsuit were filed against the energy company for alleged royalty underpayments from natural gas wells in Oklahoma starting in 1982. Burlington Resources Inc. was also a defendant in the lawsuits and agreed to a $36 million settlement. El Paso Corp. has agreed to pay $30 million under the settlement agreement, which remains subject to court approval. (Mar-08-06)
