New York, NY: (Apr-24-07) Six female Morgan Stanley financial advisers filed a gender discrimination suit against Morgan Stanley, one of the world's largest securities firms, accusing it of discriminating against them as well as more than 3,000 other current and former advisers since August 2003. The class action suit claimed that the securities firm paid women less than men and gave them fewer promotion opportunities. In a settlement reached, Morgan Stanley agreed to set up a $46 million claims pool to settle the gender discrimination suit as well as enact new policies to help women succeed as financial advisers. The class action settlement could see changes in the way training and management development programs are handled in Morgan Stanley's wealth management division based in New York.
