Plaintiffs tried to file a class action lawsuit against the corporation for placing liens on potential settlements awarded to people with injuries who sought treatment at one of its three acute care hospitals. Insurance companies pay lower rates than individuals and Lee Memorial hoped to claim money from personal injury settlements in order to get full payment.
