El Paso, TX: (Apr-16-07) The state of South Carolina and several residents filed a class action lawsuit in federal court against J.K. Harris, a firm that represents individual clients before the Internal Revenue Services. The lawsuit claimed J.K. Harris had failed to adequately represent them in an effort to obtain relief under the offer program. The suit was filed by hundreds of its clients and claimed that they received negligent and shoddy work in return for the heavy fees they had paid to retain J.K. Harris's services. Following pretrial investigations that exposed the company's questionable business practices, the company agreed to pay $6 million to settle claims, avoiding the hassles of a protracted litigation.

In researching this company to see what their "status" was, I see many comments from previous individuals who were taken advantage off. I, too, paid approximately $2500 to JK Harris in order them to resolve my tax issue. To this day, I have not received one word or have I been reimbursed for the money I paid them that I really didn't have in the first place. If anyone has information on how to get money back, please post!!!

I have trying to suit this co for years took close to 5k from me never completed service, I live in Ga so there was no law suit they just added me to list of complaints said they would back to me , only to tell me they filed Bankruptcy and that's it. Waisted so much time and they took money I didn't have to spare.. made things worse for me with IRS still paying them interest fees. JK should be responsible for EVERYONE they took advantage of..

I also was a customer of JK Harris years ago in Florida. We paid them over $8,500.00, and they did nothing for us. Is there any way to recover any of these funds?

In 2004, I placed the fraud created, by Attorney Aronoff, in the office doors, of Congressman Chabot and Senator DeWine. Aronoff drew up a contract, in his Blue Ash office, of J.K. Harris. Jackie and I signed the contract and Aronoff assured us he would have everything overturned, by his Uncle Stan Aronoff. The following week, Attorney Aronoff would not return our phone calls. I drove to his J.K. Harris office. The Landlord was looking for him too. Attorney Aronoff's office was a "Time Share" and just like the song, he "Took our money and ..." January 14th of 2005 Senator Mike Dewine and Senator George Voinovich took the time, to write back about the theft, perpetrated, by Attorney Aronoff, with J.K.Harris Tax Company's Bait and Switch. The Senators did nothing except write and say hire another attorney. Congressman Chabot did not even do that! It is the end of July 2018. We contacted the State of Ohio Attorney Lucas Ward via Attorney Hines, of Dayton. Mr. Ward wrote he was impressed we had not filed bankruptcy. As the agreement was to begin, "The Great Depression" hit. Aronoff, Chabot, DeWine, Voinovich did Nothing, with J.K.Harris. Now DeWine wants to be Governor and Chabot wants to be reelected. You can't pray, for something negative. These guys just "Rubber Stamp" and send it away, like J.K. Harris! We have lost thousands and we are still not resolved! Sincerely, Gary M. Hart

I was audited by the IRS in 2004. As a result of that audit I was found to owe taxes. After my questions were answered I paid a hefty retainer and they filed the offer for me. The offer was rejected because from the government's perspective I had too much equity in my home. This was one of the questions that I had for the representative before paying the retainer. I specifically asked will the government reject my offer if I have too much equity in the home and he assured me that no they would not. I did file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but nothing ever came of it JK Harris was dishonest and preyed on my misfortune.

My wife and I were audited by the IRS and sought help through a tax service company which we paid $1,750. We were asked to give them power of attorney to deal with the IRS and were given all tax documents and correspondence from the IRS. for 5 months we kept getting letters from the IRS in which we forwarded to this tax service company. They informed us that they were in contact with the IRS and were working on our case. When I contacted the IRS they informed me that no one had been in contact with them. The individual who was handling our case from the tax service company lied to us. When we contacted the company they informed us that they had to let this individual go because he was misleading other people as well. My wife and I asked for our money back and they want us to sign a settlement agreement and mutual release that releases them from any fraud, deception, concealment, misrepresentation or any other misconduct. This is the only way they will return our money. I feel I should not have to sign this and maybe they should be held liable for the current situation we are in. Please advise.

I have paid a company to provide a service that I am not capable of doing myself. They advertise the skills and expertise that their trained tax specialists possess. The specialist who handled my case made simple mathematical errors on my amended return. The company refused to take responsibility for the errors made by their employee. The IRS continued to bill me for balance owed and I had no other options but to seek assistance from another company to re-amend my return.

In an effort to obtain relief from back taxes, I met with a J.K. Harris representative. I paid $2,500.00 after being assured of professional handling and expedient, positive outcome using thier services. Calls to the company involved up to 45 minutes "on hold." Messages left - never returned. Representatives were rude and ignorant. Forms completed/submitted to IRS with incorrect information. Three years later, I contacted the IRS on my own and came to a resolution. J.K.Harris took $2,500 from me and did nothing but add three years of torment to my life. The tax liens that are now resolved will stay on my credit for 10 years. They took my money, wasted my time and added three years to a bad credit rating.
