The Supreme Court of New Jersey has ruled in favor of the city in a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of 600 property owners in Jersey City and 2,000 outside the city. The suit was filed in regards to the city's practice of selling property tax liens to investors, and whether the private companies that were hired to collect the back taxes could put homeowners on payment plans with interest rates in excess of 18% and charge them other fees.
