H&R Block Inc.

A class action lawsuit was filed against the tax preparation company regarding its RAL business. The class includes all those who received loans between April 8, 1994 and December 31, 1996. The lawsuit claims H&R Block failed to disclose high costs and other features of RALs made to millions of clients. H&R has agreed to a tentative $39 million class action settlement. I went in & had our(my husband & myself) taxes prepared by H&R Block. My husband was not present with me. The tax preparer talked me into putting our refund on the Emerald Prepaid Master Card. She told me there was "No Charge" for the card but there would be a $20.00 charge for a check refund. I was leary about this, she assured me that if we wanted to change anything on our paperwork we would be able to when we came in the next day to sign the papers. After going home & telling my husband about the refund being put on the Emerald Card, he said "No way, I dont want that!" I told him not to worry because she told me the paperwork could be changed before we signed and she submitted it to the IRS. The next day we both went in to the H&R Block office & sat down (with the same tax preparer as the day before). We told her we want to change on our paperwork the refund information from the Emerald Card to a check from the IRS. She told us that she already E-filed our taxes earlier in the day & there was nothing they could do about it. My husband asked her, "Who gave you guys permission to send off our taxes without our approval or our signature?" She didnt have much to say except "SORRY". Isnt this against the law or fraud ?
