A class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of those who wagered on Sweet Catomine in the 2005 Santa Anita Derby. The class claimed the public was defrauded by the filly's owner and trainer, Martin and Pam Wygod and Julio Canani, as well as the Los Angeles Turf Club and Santa Anita Park for failure to disclose physical problems with the racing horse. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge dismissed the case, noting plaintiffs failed to show the track was liable. (Dec-31-05)
