Portland, OR: (Feb-26-07) A nationwide class action lawsuit filed by more than 700,000 policyholders of Hartford Fire Insurance Company saw settlement with Oregon Federal District Court Judge ruling in favor of the class. The lawsuit alleged that Hartford Fire and its subsidiaries failed to provide notice as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act when it charged customers more for insurance based on information in their credit reports. The settlement reached would entitle every qualified class member that submits a timely claim form to receive a payment of at least $150.
