Harold Levinson & Associates, a Long Island cigarette stamping agent and wholesaler, allegedly sold illegal, untaxed cigarettes to Native American businesses from 2001 through 2002. The Farmingdale-based company used an unauthorized trucking company to deliver unstamped cigarettes to Sovereign Wholesale Supply Co. on the Allegheny Indian Reservation and C&J Buying Group on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Both western New York reservations belong to the Seneca Indian Nation. Harold Levinson & Associates have agreed to pay $9.9 million to settle an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the state Department of Taxation and Finance, pending approval by a U.S. District Judge.
