Minnesota Cosmetology Board

Three Minneapolis women who braid hair for a living filed a class action lawsuit against the board claiming discrimination regarding licensing requirements. The rules required braiders, like other cosmetologists, to attend classes costing over $10,000 in tuition. Under the settlement, the Minnesota Cosmetology Board has agreed to publish administrative rules that will exempt braiders from licensing requirements. (Jun-16-05) [TWIN CITIES BUSINESS JOURNAL]
