Tampa, FL: (Apr-04-08) A class action lawsuit was brought against Waste Management, Inc. of FL, after investigations regarding the company's operations. In a recent development in the 2005 filed lawsuit, sources stated that the company announced that it has reached a settlement in the class action, resolving the allegations. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, company officials said that a $1.25 million fund would be distributed on a pro rata basis among members of the class that qualify. It is estimated that the typical payout for businesses may be in the range of $25, and that there are around 50,000 class members throughout FL. Though the actual payout might not seem much, industry spokespersons stated that the deal could lead to more operational scrutiny of one of its giants.
