Ferriday - In 1999 a class action lawsuit was filed against the city and the firm that built the local water treatment plant. After the plant broke down, the city ordered a 124 day boil water rule. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of all those affected by the boil water order, including town residents, business owners, owners and renters of residential and commercial properties, people who worked at businesses, school students, and patients in health care facilities. The City of Ferriday and Owen and White have agreed to pay a $2.5 million class action settlement. (Sep-20-06)
