Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Class Action Settlement

New York, NY: (Feb-09-07) A class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of thousands of physicians in New York and Pennsylvania against Excellus BlueCross BlueShield claiming that the insurer had short-changed them on fees. In December 2006, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield agreed to pay the Rochester Community Individual Practice $29 million to settle the doctors' claims ending an eight-year battle.
