Dozens of subcontractors from the homebuilding company were awarded a $557,000 settlement after a class action lawsuit claimed they were owed $5.1 million for work they had performed. Erpenbeck Co. collapsed in April 2002 in a check-kiting scheme. Lead plaintiff, Morris Heating & Cooling of Boone County, was owed $485,000 but will only recover 10% of that amount; others also receive a dime to their dollar. (Apr-17-05)
