Santa Clara, CA: A settlement in an unpaid overtime class action lawsuit pending against Walmart and Sam’s Club Stores is now final.
The lawsuit was brought by certain employees who worked at the big box retailers. They assert that they were not paid for missed meal and rest breaks or for off-the-clock work while employed by Walmart.
The potential class of plaintiffs in the lawsuit who may be entitled to benefits from the settlement is approximately 187,000 current and former hourly Pennsylvania employees at Walmart of Sam’s Club.
The class period is between March 19, 1998 and May 1, 2006.
The settlement amount is $62.3 million in statutory damages.
The lawsuit is Braun v. Wal-Mart Stores Inc., et al., March 2002 Term, No. 3127 and Hummel v. Wal-Mart Stores Inc., et al., August 2004 Term, No. 3757, in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia County.

I worked at Wal-Mart from 2000-2002. Never heard or received anything . I was also fired and told I would be rehired in 90 days, they had to pay my unemployment because they said I would be rehired.

I also worked at Walmart for nearly 7 years during this time period. Despite numerous phone calls, emails, and forms filled out; I have not even gotten a call back. Ridiculous. Looking for the law firm associated with this suit. Over $5 million was set aside to continually search for class members, yet I have been trying to contact them with no luck. Does not seem fair.

Our company requires pharmacists to do things such as staff flu clinics on our days off. Just because we are salary. But we're not exempt salary.
