A class action lawsuit was filed against the diocese for allegedly covering up 50 years of physical abuse. The diocese has agreed to an $85 million class action settlement. $45 million of the settlement will be paid for by Catholic Mutual, the Catholic Church's self-insurance fund and Fireman's Fund Insurance.
