A $167,500 settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuit that alleged racial profiling by New York police. The suit was filed in 1999 and claimed that the 10 plaintiffs were unjustly stopped and searched by police officers. Under the terms of settlement, the plaintiffs will share in the settlement funds, and the police department will be required to document the instances where it stops and frisks people.
