A jury has ruled in favor of a 101 year old woman who owns a golf course in a Chicago suburb, stating that Anna Mae Ahern is entitled to $25 million for her property.
Ten years ago Anna Mae was offered $25 million for the land by a developer, but the deal fell through due to rezoning issues. The jury said that the Ms. Ahern is entitled to the same amount today that she was offered then.
Anna May was born on the property when it was a farm and restaurant. In 1921 her family converted it to a golf course. She currently lives on the property in a wood-frame bungalow.
As a result of the jury's ruling, Evergreen Park can now proceed with purchasing the 95 acre property, which their lawyers estimate is worth between $5 and $6 million.
