Meddlebury - A federal class action lawsuit was filed against the chemical company. The lawsuit claimed Chemtura artificially boosted prices of chemicals used to make rubber between 1995 and 2001. It alleged the rubber chemicals maker conspired in a global price fixing scheme that kept prices paid by tire companies in the US artificially high. Chemtura will pay $51 million to settle the federal class action. (Oct-04-06)
