Louisville, KY: (Nov-12-07) A class action lawsuit was filed against Zeon Chemicals by its Louisville neighbors, alleging that the plant's emissions were a nuisance that kept them from fully enjoying their homes. Company spokespersons denied emissions had caused a nuisance or damaged neighbors' property values. As part of a settlement reached, those who live within a half-mile of the plant would stand to receive a monetary payout. Sources estimated that it could be between the range of $800 to $1,200 per person, according to their attorneys. Further, the deal would prohibit the plaintiffs from criticizing the company and from filing future lawsuits over property damage, nuisance or health problems, including death, associated with the company's emissions.
