A settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuit filed against Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway on behalf of approximately 80 residents of North Havre, Montana. The suit alleged the diesel fuel had leaked from a neighboring rail yard into the plaintiff's groundwater, which caused a decrease in property values and threatened their health. The terms of settlement will be confidential, however the plaintiff's attorney stated, "The plaintiffs are very pleased with the settlement." (Jul-10-03) [RAIL NEWS]
