Bank shareholders tried to file a class action lawsuit against the Bank of America for allegedly aiding Italian food company Parmalat Finanziaria SpA to commit securities fraud. Judge Lewis Kaplan of the U.S. District Court in Manhattan dismissed claims that BofA was liable for its actions relating to a 1999 Parmalat private placement, and to various loans backed by funds from private debt placements.
