Bank in 1995, hundreds of current and former residents of Big Bass Lake filed a class action lawsuit against the district and counties. The class claimed tax assessments were based on improper ratios dating to 1989. Residents' properties were assessed at 31% of market value, but the rate for the rest of the county was 22.5%. Property owners are set to receive an $800,000 class action settlement in tax credits. (Dec-13-05)
