Missouri homeowners could benefit from a series of lawsuits that claimed lending institutions charged customers illegal document preparation fees. The suits alleged lending institutions could not charge borrowers a legal fee for preparing mortgage documents if they did not use a lawyer. One class action lawsuit against Midwest Bankcentre was settled for $1.6 million. (Aug-24-05)
