Construction workers, journeymen and drywall finishers worked hard for the subcontractor building several San Antonio landmarks including the AT&T Center, the Watermark Hotel, area schools and several other public and private buildings. In October 2003, more than 110 workers filed a class action lawsuit against Baker Drywall alleging they were shortchanged compensation of about 1 1/2 hours per day. The suit claimed the subcontractor was in violation of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Baker Drywall denied any wrongdoing but agreed to pay a $350,000 class action settlement. (Feb-02-06)
