A class action lawsuit was filed against the appliance manufacturer for allegedly failing to report product defects. The lawsuit claims that various countertop toasters, juice extractors and slow cookers caused a series of fires and injuries related to defects. Hamilton Beach has agreed to pay the Consumer Product Safety Commission a $1.2 million settlement for violating federal safety standards. (Mar-30-05)
