A settlement has been reached and is pending approval in the class action lawsuit filed against Apple on behalf of G3 users. The suit claimed that Apple failed to support certain G3 models with the same Mac OS X performance enjoyed by G4s. Under the terms of settlement, Apple would refund the cost of Mac OS X, which could be up to $129, to those who return their CDs. The settlement involves US customers who purchased Bondi Blue and fruit-coloured tray-loading iMacs, as well as several generations of Power Mac G3s, older iBooks, and PowerBook G3s on or before May 15, 2003. In addition, a $25 e-coupon would be given to those G3 users whose ability to run certain graphics applications, games and DVDs was affected by OS X. (Aug-13-03) [MACWORLD]
