MacBook Ads False

New York, NY: (Mar-26-08) A class action lawsuit was brought against Apple Inc., by San Diego, CA residents Fred Greaves and Dave Gatley, two professional photographers, who alleged that the company falsely advertised the quality and capabilities of its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook displays. The suit claimed that Apple advertised that both the MacBook and MacBook Pro included displays capable of supporting millions of colors, and offered views that were far superior to other portables.

Greaves and Gatley, both professional photographers, claimed that the misrepresentation was crucial, and that people of their profession rely on the accuracy of the displays for properly editing imagery. Their suit stated that even at their highest resolutions, the Apple portable's displays are unreliable for post-production purposes. The duo also charged Apple with violating the Unfair Competition Law and the Consumer Legal Remedies Act for its failure to properly address and rectify the situation.

Sources stated that the two sides had reached a settlement agreement with the company, resolving the class action, though they chose to keep the terms of the settlement agreement undisclosed. [APPLE INSIDER: APPLE SETTLES 'MILLIONS OF COLORS' CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT]
