A class action lawsuit was filed against the Seattle based parent company of Georgetowne Place Retirement Apartments. The class alleged the company practiced unlawful employment practices since January 1, 2002, by refusing to hire non-whites because of their race. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and several individuals who were involved in the lawsuit have agreed upon a settlement that provides up to $650,000. Individuals who qualify as one of the class action members and any person who applied to the retirement center for a job between Feb. 17, 1998, and April 18, 2005, should contact the EEOC.
