The rock band Aerosmith has agreed a settlement to a class action lawsuit brought by fans who purchased tickets to see a concert that never happened.
The suit was brought by about 8,300 people, and it alleged that Aerosmith's Maui concert was cancelled by the band in favor of performing in Chicago at a much larger venue, as well as a more profitable private performance for Toyota dealers on the island of Oahu.
Additionally, the suit claimed that the cancellation of the band's concert in Maui cost ticket holders between $500,000 and $3 million in travel costs and other related expenses including handling fees.
As settlement of the suit Aerosmith will play a concert in Maui, with people who held tickets to the cancelled performance admitted free of charge. The date for the concert has yet to be determined.
