Abbott Laboratories has agreed to settle a lawsuit that alleges it improperly raised the price of Norvir, its drug for treating HIV. The settlement is not finalized yet, but the payment is expected to be between $10 million and $27.5 million.
The lawsuit alleged that Abbot raised the price of Norvir by 400 percent. Norvir is a standard treatment in AIDS drug cocktails, and Abbott claims that it enhances the effectiveness of other AIDS drugs in those cocktails.
