The now defunct CCI allegedly misrepresented training programs and job placement rates, and pushed students into high interest loans. A lawsuit was also filed by Attorney General Martha Coakley, against the school.
According to Harris' office, CCI intentionally targeted low-income, vulnerable Californians through false advertising and aggressive marketing campaigns. The organization purportedly misrepresented job placement rates and school programs. It conducted this false advertising via the Internet, telemarketing and television ad campaigns.

I attended a Corinthian College in 2003. I have loans I am paying on and I have never been able to use the credits. I also paid monthly fees because the school stated that my loans did not cover my entire tuition. I've always thought that I was defrauded.

DeVry Chicago has closed due to non payment of state taxes. They said they would get me enrolled and upon graduation I would only have to pay 50 dollars a month back. I got an associates degree in HIT which was a 36,000 dollar class. My school loans are an outstanding 72,000 dollars for online courses! I graduated earlier than 120 days from the time the school closed so I couldn't and cannot do anything about it. I cannot use my degree due to a past record in court and found out I cannot work in healthcare anywhere.

Southwest Florida College did worse than Corinthian College to students who have attended including myself. False advertising, very high fees, not credits transferable to other colleges, false job placement rates, very misleading marketing campaign that was geared towards low income students. The entire organization should be in prison. People stuck with extremely high student loans and no way out.
